Learning to be Silent!...(Sonnet)

Silent sleeps the night, secrets deep enclosed,

Silent shines the moon, stars in herd escort;

Silent blows the air, silent lie green meads,

Silent stretch grey skies, extend far indeed;

Silent stand mountains, never make a sound,

Silent bloom flowers, fragrance sweet abounds.

Seeds million on earth, quietly in sprouts thrive,

Worms turn butterflies, beauty exquisite;

Earth rotates soundless, wonder of wonders,

Man when moves each step, creates loud thunder;

Child in mother’s womb mutely feeds itself,

At time when released, brawls and loudly wails.

Why wanders yonder, my soul in search what?

Why can’t be silent, mind in nature’s lot?

Time to blow out!

It was only yesterday
when everything seemed perfect
heavens had showered blessings
sea had made a pact with sails

time became a soul-friend
events then hardly mattered
love was the only anchor
peace prevailed in every hour

then darkness suddenly gathered
a gale approached too close
entire harmony plainly shattered
a stirring moment for the soul

a flame had stayed upright
fighting this oncoming gale right
in every cloud with silver lining
source of strength kept searching

the gale had touched the soul
not a string there was to grope
flickering flame struggled, lost hope
it was time to blow out and bow !

Oh Mother!

With Lord you made a divine accord
to bring me on his behalf on record
the pain of bearing was so piercing
nine long months within you held me!

Your body was absolutely drained
but still you went on with the strain
enabling me to see light of earth
infusing in me growth and strength!

You cradled me in your gentle arms
endowing me world of prodigious warmth
it didn't matter if I cried or laughed
You were always by my side when sought!

You fed me with your life and blood
and soothed me with your loving words
patiently you taught me every sound
when I took first steps, you felt so proud!

When I was asleep, You were awake
when ill, you just cried for my sake
with healing touch on brow delirious
You bestowed me life not once but several!

You pushed, prodded, encouraged, guided
until I found my place in world lopsided
Time passed and my path took me away
Your concern was my happiness everyday!

Oh mother!
Words are incapable to express my gratitude
Your love is the greatest in its plenitude
On Earth, you are my God, you cannot fathom
how much I adore you, I will ever owe you so!!
